Oscar Animated Feature Films and Hollywood gossip!

The 2015 Oscars are nearly upon us and we at Zoobe are SO inspired by the Animated Feature Film nominations. This year they have featured some really brilliant and unique work where the animation left us breathless, so breathless that we simply had to write it all down and share it with you! We've also been taking inspiration for our new female Zoobes from the fashion show that is the past and present red carpet parade of the Academy Awards. We have posted trailers and info on all the awesome Animated Feature Film nominations so please feel free to leave a comment below on who your favourite for the prize is, and why! We also could not resist adding in a mini Zoobe Oscar of our own and posting three of our favourite user created messages. Please keep sending them to us we watch them all!

First up though... the feature films! ‘How to train your dragon 2’  (which was winner of Best Animated Feature at the Golden Globes) has been nominated for the king of prizes in Hollywood glitz and glamour. It is an incredibly thrilling movies and ALL of us here at Zoobe want our own pet dragons after watching this popcorn crutch-worthy epic.

This heart-wrenching movie is based around Viking dragon tamer Hiccup and his bond with his beloved dragon, Toothless. Filled with tragedy, drama and beautiful animations it is a sure bet for the grand prize this year. Directed by Dean DeBlois and produced by Bonnie Arnold this is the second Academy Award nomination for Dean DeBlois. He was previously nominated for ‘How to Train Your dragon’ (in 2010). The sequel is DreamWorks Animation’s  highest grossing film in the American and Canadian box office other than the Shrek films. The film grossed $217,581,231 in the United States and Canada and $277,297,528 in foreign countries with a worldwide total of $494,878,759.

Song of the Sea

This is a firm favourite here at Zoobe especially because of the beautiful music. We love it so much when we hear our users sending us sung messages; really seeing the characters from our awesome app come to life through music and singing. Song of the Sea is a gorgeous movie filled with Irish pentatonic melodies and a really unique style of animation. Plus all the character’s voices have that lush song like and soothing Irish lilt that is so wonderful to listen to. Combined with stunning artwork we have great faith in this movie’s Oscar potential.

The Box Trolls

Brought to us by production team Anthony Stacchi, Graham Annable and Travis Knight  this adorable and gripping film is about a community of shy trolls living in hiding, emerging only at night to scavenge. When they take a human baby and raise him as one of their own, his disappearance puts them all in grave danger.

Big Hero 6

Is based on the adventures of fourteen-year-old science prodigy Hiro and an unlikely ally: a gentle healthcare bot named Baymax. Hiro spends his time developing fighting robots for underground competitions where him and his friends land in lots of hot bother and fun!

The Tale of The Princess Kaguya

Following on from Song of the Sea’s style, the Tale of The Princess Kaguya is the last on our list for Animated Feature Film Oscar decoration and is also majestically crafted, it's like watching an Asian watercolour come to life but with with Disney-eque voices! It’s great to see that the Oscars are also celebrating films from international and independent studios. Princess Kaguya is based on a 10th-century Japanese folk story called The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, which tells of a poor couple that discover a mystical girl in a forest and take it upon themselves to raise her as a princess. Directed by 78-year-old Isao Takahata this movie really is an animated masterpiece.

We would like take this Oscar opportunity to include some of YOUR Zoobes that we have found particularly awesome lately. Please always send us your videos we LOVE seeing what you make.

2. Drunken Bunny! This video has had 56,000+ hits which gives it a firm place to sit in this mini Oscar line up. Nice one, we like (made by user name on youtube  Julia Pototskaja)!

And next is... gossip! Because you know, it wouldn’t be a blog post about the Oscars if we didn’t include some gossip from the glitzy world of glamour that is tinsel town.

So far there’s been an outcry as to why Jennifer Aniston didn’t get nominated for best actress for her role as the protagonist in the film ‘Cake’. She was nominated for ‘Best Actress’ at the Golden Globethe Screen Actors Guild and Critics Choice but failed to pick up any trophies to take home to put above her fireside, or use as a coaster.

The outrage from fans and her colleagues alike spreads far and wide over the internet with famous stars turning to twitter to express their disappointment as to why she did not receive a nomination at this year’s Oscars.

And what about the glamour and the dresses? Scarlett Johansson is tipped to present at this year’s Oscars and the question on every fashionista’s lips is: 'Will she walk the red carpet, who will design her dress?' Will her hour glass figure and attire be loved or hated by the waiting paparazzi?!

The Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress Oscar nominees for 2015 are as  photographed for their style and gowns as they are their incredible acting skils.

Unlikely Oscar-nominee turned feminista is Reese Witherspoon (for her film Wild). Reese has shaken off her ‘legally Blonde’ shoes and taken on not only acting but also producing credible movies whilst pulling off hard-hitting roles. We salute you Reese!

The endlessly brilliant Vogue have a gallery of her, and other nominees' past dresses >> here

We loved looking at this gallery and using the pictures as inspirations whilst designing dresses for our upcoming new Zoobe characters! Iconic pictures of note feature the beautiful Audrey Hepburn in Givenchy, Julia Roberts in ValentinoKate Winslet in Ben De Lisi and more. We adore!!

Watch this space new female Zoobe avatars on their way to your app soon!
